Trending Today: Flamingos

fashion trend flamingos

#Flamingo-ing: to stand on one leg and wrap your other around the standing leg, point your head down and position your arms behind you to create wings.

Fine, maybe Flamingoing is not really a thing, but it should be, cuz Flamingos have officially replaced cats as this year's most trendy animal.

Lets take a look at what's available this season to help us get our Flamingo on.

Flamingos happen to be one of my favorite birds, after the Canadian Goose (Canada represeeeent) and Big Bird of course. The fact that these birds are so bright, bold and attractive in a "weird" way really really speaks to me. I'm not saying I am attractive, but I am weird you cant deny that.  For me they are the Zsa Zsa Gábor of the animal kingdom. So naturally I'm happy to spend an entire post discussing a seasonal trend based on the fancy shmancy bird.

I cant say I am shocked this trend took off since its been kickin around for several seasons, for example, do you recall THESE beauties from Dannijo?

While I missed the boat on those delightful earrings last year I found redemption this season when I spotted this  Moschino Cheap and Chicamisole on Net-A-Porter.

This Spring and Summer it will be easier to own some of the trendy items since they can be found everywhere. You can choose to go full on Flamingo via outrageous head gear (see below) or simply infuse a bit of the quirky birds essence into your wardrobe.

Here are some of my personal favorites.

Fun Flamingo Fact: While it is not scientifically known why exactly Flamingos stand on one leg one theory is simply so that ducks run into them only half as often.  True story! Flamingos are often at risk of duck collisions since they share a habitat with them. No wonder I love Flamingos so much! I too am often surrounded by a bunch of quackers.

So what do you think? Will you be embracing the Flamingo trend this Spring/Summer?

    1. Don't you wish you could wear that headband like, to work or something, and not have everyone think you've just escaped from a "facility" ?
